The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) has challenged in the High Court the decision of the university management to consider only the 12th marks of Kerala State Board students for admission. DUSU has demanded the cancellation of the decision of Delhi University, terming it as arbitrary and unfair. The Kerala State Board determines the grade by combining the marks of class 11th and 12th.

Justice Prateek Jalan, after a brief hearing, has asked DUSU to explain at the next hearing how its judicial right to intervene in the matter is created. The next hearing of the case will be on November 10. DUSU said that DU’s decision has violated the fundamental and legal rights of many students.

The petition said that some state boards, including the Directorate of General Education (Higher Secondary Cell), Government of Kerala, give combined marks of class 11th and 12th on the marksheets. The state policy clearly states that the combined marks of both 11th and 12th will be taken into account for determining the grades of the students.
